    Question about Luftwaffe cap eagle

    Hello to all,

I picked up this Luftwaffe cap eagle in a box of medals from a veteran. Everything else in the box is original, so I am assuming that this eagle is real as well. However, I have never seen one quite like this before. It has three edge prongs, which are an integral part of the eagle stamping. It is made of iron/steel. Is this an original cap eagle? I do not collect caps and their insignia per se, so I would appreciate any assistance.

    Thank you & best regards,
    Tom

It is a good one! This style of prongs is simple and cheaper than soldering prongs afterwards. That is why I think they are produced in later wartime (correct me, if I am wrong...)
