    LW em's visorcap??? help wanted

    Hello,

I've got this em visor cap, it looks like Luftwaffe flak, but it isn't regular since the cap band doesn't have the horizontal lines...also the chin strap is of some kind of erzats? material (plastic coated canvas?). The waffenforbe is red, but looks orange due to discolleration. also the wool itself has faded to grey.

Is this a LW flak visor or is it something complete else (and if, what?) transferred into one?
Just have a look and tell me what you guys think...

I THINK it is just a non standard foriegn made tailored cap..maybe some obscure place like greece for instance..The blacl band material MAY be similiar to some other militaria or para military from the foriegn land it was made in...JMHO Billbert

piping colour looks brown to me - might be "Nachrichten" instead of Flak

Thanks for the reply, but was this allowed? I mean: different kind of material ok, but a complete different cap band design (non-horizontal lines)...
Or is it a non german cap, transformed into a LW one?

An avenue to pursue might be to figure out who used a sizing system that equates a 5-1/2 with 58cm?? This presumes the 5-1/2 denotes size -- being that it's co-located on the label.

                      Hello Bilbert

Great to hear! Then it must be made in occupied France, since the french themselves didn't wear this type of headgear...
So can I assume this was originally a LW EM Flak visor made in occupied france? (although the capband must be against regulations...)

I guess it was not common for an EM to have a private tailored cap made, so have anybody seen these before?

I would stay away from this one, even if it's a original piece. To many ????

To many ??? makes it even more interested for me!
The cap is already mine for several years (and will be), so I don't have to stay away.
It certainly is a ww2 period made cap, probably from France.
The game is to solve those questions and gain more knowledge
