    Pz. Officers M43

Picked this one up recently from Germany. The sellers pics weren't great so I had to go with my gut feeling but I'm glad I did. It just feels right if you know what I mean.
Actualy, it's not really a standard M43. The peak is short, it has no pull down loops and only has a single line of stitching across the top the flaps. It also has an internal stiffener that runs around the circumference of the cap. These traits match another Officers cap I have.
My only concern is the piping. I haven't handled another with this loose weave of aluminium wire before. Any thoughts on that?
Like 99% of the caps I've aquired from Germany, the eagle has been removed, the thread still hangs there quite clearly.
Anyway, some pics but I really wish you guys could smell it as well. Never had one that stank so much like an old tractor!

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

                Ben,

The reason it smells like a tractor is because it is a farming tractor repair officers hat. The eagle had a tractor tire in place of the swastika. Just joking of course...

Very cool cap Ben...I haven't seen piping like that, but it looks legit. I have seen a lot of other wierd piping so nothing surprises me. Very nice score, when it gets soundly condemned, I'll be happy to take it off your hands.

Ben,can you determine by the silhouette of the eagle if it was an Army eagle or Luftwaffe?

Definitely not Luft. Possibly one like this.

Lenny, come over to London for a visit and bring your nose with you!

Just wondering if anyone has or has seen for sale an eagle similar to the one in the photo?

Bringing this one back up because try as I might, I've not been able to find anything anywhere that reasembles the eagle on this cap in the photo. Can anyone help?
The more I look at my cap, the more I'm convinced that it had a similar eagle and so, of course, I'm eager to find one.

It's looks to me to be silver bullion hand embroidered on a black background.

Quite possibly, the claws look mighty strange though don't they, like the eagle has got a pair of 70's flares on.
