    Verwaltungspolizei Visor

This was my one SOS find--it is for an Officer of the Verwaltungspolizei, or the Administrative Police. This is the hardest-to-find Polizei piping, second only to Gemeinde. These guys were paper-pushers and not beat cops. Their functions dealt with accounting, payroll, uniforms, passports, immigration, change of name and address, etc--pretty mundane stuff, but critical to a police state.

The piping looks white in the pics, but is actually a Hellgrau, or light-gray, their Truppenfarbe.

In all other respects it is the same as any other Polizei visor--standard brown band:

        Side profile--it is nicely padded:

The flash obscures it somewhat, but it is one killer eagle--it still has a lot of frosting remaining, and the swaz is mirror-finished. It is the 2-piece, 3-prong officer type:

I would say this is a wartime piece. The s/b is ersatz. A lot (but not all) of manufacturers used a green underside to their visors:

The maker is somewhat uncommon, G. Assmann (they had nothing to do with the Assmann u. Sohn, the insignia maker.) They were in Halle, and were listed in the 1941 Handelsregister as the "Haus der Herrenmode" and were located at Grosse Ullrichstrasse 49/50.

                It reads:

                Gegrundet 1843
                Abtig.
                Feine Uniform Massschneiderei
                Halle/S.

BTW, Pete Larson just picked up this magnificent Verwaltungspolizei officer's tunic, and posted it over in the Police forum. (Pete, we need to have a "reunion" pic of the hat and tunic together!).

                    Your Hat

Well your Hat obviously belonged to the Brainy Administrative Type given the large Noggin size of 59.

                      Police Cap

                      Hi Chris,
After being to handle and view the cap 1st hand at the Max Show and in the hotel room, you are correct, the photos do not do it justice.

I am not really a hat person, but I love this one especially the eagle.

                      Regards,
                      Jody

Chris, As I said in the police forum, You have my address to mail me the visor , correct. I will take the pictures and send to you. That poor visor will be lonely without the Tunic. I now have another visor I need to search for. Unless of course you mail me yours. Nice grab, Pete

That's a really good looking visor hat.
