    Cap from general for opinions

    Hello,
Any opinions about this cap will be appreciated. I only have these pics but maybe the seller could supply me others.
    Thanks, Pierre

You will need more pics for sure. Under the sweatband is a must. Erel Generals caps are the single most rebuilt cap out there. At least IMO. Any general should be looked at very, very close. I am not too fond of the insignia. The bird is bad , (IMHO of course) Let see more first though.

I think you have good reason. But before I say more I would like to see more.

                    Hat

Seems like bogus insignia for sure. Everything else looks promising, but has anyone seen an EREL hat sweatband joined at the side???

Yes, but they tend to be found on private purchase lower ranks for some odd reason. Not common but not unheard of. The cap for me has some non-Erel characteristics. I am 99% sure an under the sweatband shot will be all we need. The lining is not sitting in the cap right. At least from what I can see.

Yes ,I've a "Privat" joined at side,no problem with it.I don't like the insigna also the cap band,it should have the grommet because of the sweatband has the big hole for it.If does not have it is a messed up hat.We need to see under the hood,to be sure
                        All the best

I really want to see the inside to prove my hunch.

Anyway, for the Erel lovers such as myself. The materials of the cap I have never seen used by Erel before. But here is the one that really sticks out. The bottom part of the cap at the base is in the same tricot material as the cap. On every single Erel I have ever seen including ones with tricot caps the base is always in a wool material. Never have I ever seen an Erel with a tricot base. Not even on the so called late war Erel’s.

Two things jumped out at me when I saw the pics thus far: I don't think the insignia is right, particularly the wreath, and I had not expected this to be an Erel based on the exterior pics - in addition to the issue that NTZ already pointed out with the tricot base, it certainly doesn't have a classic Erel shape, IMO.

I agree. Although we need a look under the hood (or bonnet!), and some better pics, it looks like a PWPT - post-war-put-together. The insignia looks questionable and, like NTZ, I cannot recall ever seeing tricot material around the base.
