Congratulations on the cap...choice find, even considering its condition. Is the banner anything other than your typical party type flag? Its not black with SS runes is it? Considering your luck so far, one can only hope.

No, the banner is just a typical one, there are pics of it in the "flag" forum if you care to look. I'm just a novice collector at best but find some good stuff from time to time.

The first and only thing I would do to it is get a quality head form (NOT FOAM) and gengirly slide it onto the head shape.. DONT PULL ON VISOR OR SWETBAND threads may break..lightly brush it off with a nice clothes brush.. I think you will be AMAZED ar the differnce..websterdisplays.com buy the PETER version for 79.00 Billbert
If you havent gathered this is a VALUABLE cap...

Gentleman This is proof possitive it is indeed still out there!! But in my eyes an item such as this is just the kind that sadly hits the trash rather
than the collectables hands.. The mindset of the last set of hands that touch it before it hitsthe trash bag being... WHO in there right mind would possibly want this dirty old smelly piece of crap!! Its the game of discovery with the sands running out of the hour glass..BUT once in a while a peach does fall !! great item of history.. I hope you can get it to speak thru its GI veteran acquirer.. The gentleman who I purchased it from was let's say... a pack rat, has a storage unit full of who knows what?? But he did remember this hat and flag being in there. He also said he had lots of Indian arrowheads and some axeheads. He assured me a few days ago he would try to talk to his uncle soon to find out any info on these items. I have a friend that I work with that his granmother has a luger with holster that his deceased grandfather brought back from the war... he knows I'm interested but it will probably be years before my friend gets it. I'll patiently wait
