    Hmmm......64 views and no replies.......

Klinsman, i am no cap expert but .......
If it is original i would guess very late war production - The out side of the visor shows no marks at all while the inside shows a lot of 'thumb action' and the sweat band has only minor wear/staining.
The top edge of the cap, were the waffenfarbe is sewn in, looks very 'skinny'.
I have no idea regarding the insignia.

If the owner views this forum there is no offence meant, this is just my opinion.

I am sure others who are more well informed will disagree with me.....

    Steve.

I'm not a huge fan of this type of grey lining. Reminds me too much of an Alteste.
I'd much prefer this combo of interior.

        The Hat

No obvious red flags. The hat doesn't say much however. I am not a big fan of the EM style wool top with an officer velvet band. These two materials are conflicting with each other. Would not be a hat for me. Skull looks like a nice Aluminum 499. Eagle looks OK too.

I have no problem with the late war field combat wool material on SS officer hats. Here is mine.

              Bob,

I suppose it is the same cap?

Admittedly, I know very little about SS cloth headgear, except that I know I'd like to add one to my collection one day. I'd rely heavily on the opinions of the guys in this section to help me sift through all the chafe to find that one diamond. For what it is worth, I really like the looks of the one Bob just posted.

Bob, now that is the definition of “textbook”.
