    officer hat in the estand.

im opening a discussion for this infantry officer visor hat on the estand.

    http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...=1#post2774375

i was the owner of this hat some time ago. i bought it from another waf member. sometime later i put it up for discussion and it was determined to be of a doubtful nature. i eventually sold it as a reproduction to a local collector.

maybe it would be a good time to discuss it again. maybe this time it would get better reviews.

Perhaps it would help, and out of respect to the seller to tell us why you think it needs discussing.
I'm sure that some of the hat specialists could tell us quite a few things about this hat, good or bad, but many of us may not see what you see.

Thank you for editing your post and letting us know why Das Reich.
Do you have links to the original discussion about this visor? I'm interested because I have been looking at adding a decent Heer visor to my collection (but after more of a field worn example personally).

I see an Erel ventilated cockade, a Pekuro type sweatband and a sweatshield that doesn't match either one.

        Regards,
        Mike

          hey

just when i started on waf i bought this one from another member. from the get go i wasnt to happy with it, but i let the 7 days go by before discussing and the seller held himself to that. even though ii lost my money, if i recall correctly, his reputation was tainted and he didnt last long after that. sadly, i deleted off my records where it was discussed, but some might remember the discussion.

bottom line, parts didnt match, the erel cockade appears to be somehow glued, and the biggie which i couldnt deny, was that the infantry cord is way to thick compared to most other visors hats. i held until the end for it, but the arguments were way to substantial.

See the thread below titled "stonemint needs help with logo." I like it. I have also seen hats with Erel screens that were not Erels and were original to the hat. If there are no extra holes, the wreath is most likely original to the hat (and why waste a hard to find Erel screen on a non-erel visor?).

            Hat is good.

i dont argue the point about the erel cockade, is with the infantry band that i have a beef. it is way to thick. if you find one similar, then please post pics. when i had it, i was pained to agree with the conclusion that the hat was not completely kosher. if it works for another, by all means. personally, i just decided i had to move on and get another example that i could live with. some might share the same feeling as i that once there is something that i dont like about an item in my collection, however minimal, no matter how hard i try to convince myself, if im not completely happy it has to go.

jsanchez was so kind to forward me the link to the original discussion.

Thicker piping appears to be a characteristic of this maker. Yes, its thick, and I have seen other makers to this too (I even call it "Dubl Thick" piping--I should trademark that ). The hat, imho, based on pics, is 100% TR. It has nothing in common with the fake one that is in my other thread, and everything in common with the others.

Check out the piping on this one:

In my book, the thicker the better.....

I have seen quite a few original examples with thick top piping. That should not be the determening factor for originality. Jacques
