    Unusual Erel cap; opinions pls

    Hi Gentlemen,
i'm planning to buy this Erel schirmmütze. As you can see, it has some unusual features that looking so far from a normal Erel cap (stitchings, maker's logo etc). Because with the officer caps i'm not so in, could you told me your thoughts about it?
    Every your opinion is appreciated.
    Regards,
    Alex

Alex post some pics of the peak stiffiner and the sweatband stitching.

This is what I told Alex in private.

"Alex I don’t know what to make of this cap. The logo is much larger than any other Erel I have seen. The sweatband is attached in a manor I have not seen in Erel before and the peak stiffener is bias material which I have not seen in an Erel either. Now the cap certainly looks to be period with an Erel shape and the lining is textbook early Erel. I would tend to lean toward a very early Erel class marked visor circa early 1937 with some oddities that changed once they moved into full production mode. Maybe even a prototype of the class system Erel’s or a salesman’s sample? Very interesting indeed."

                    Where is everyone on this?

The more I look at it the more I like it. Odd traits or not she is an Erel and was made this way. What does the stamp on the visor say?

Here is another non-vented. The only difference is the font size on the shield and the SB is machine stitched in front.

Hi Nick, looks a good visor to me.

Occassionally, one unusual Erel turns up that has more good points than bad, I think this one could be a trial cap using the half folded / half sewn sweatband, against the full roll over or patented padded type.

A sort of inbetween the roll over type to DRGM marked forehead free sweatband examples.

JT I like it too. The size of the Erel logo threw me though. I have never seen one that big. The long hand stitched front part of the SB threw me too. Never seen it in an Erel. I am still going very early class type Erel.

Hi Nick, a lot of people would have dismissed it out of hand through not seeing one of the half roll overs on an Erel before.

Once you posted the cap in post #11, that did it. I had not seen a half roll over Erel until this thread was posted.

A lot of these may have been rubbished in the past as replaced sweatbands when they are most likely the real deal.
