    A Good Laugh

I just happened to visit Regimentals website, and he has a real howler for sale. Check out the "Kreigsmarine Admiral's" white top cap ; the shape is totally wrong, and it looks like a redone West German Navy cap. All this for only $5740.

Ask for more pics including a natural light shot of the piping. Under the hood too. Post them and we can go over it. I have seen this one before.

I can understand this NZT when you've had troubles with Regimentals. But I can tell in all honesty that I haven't had any problems. And if you're not satisfied they take it back without problem. I believe this is honest, no ? I know sellers who deliberatly sell fakes and won't even take it back.
Where have you seen the cap before ? It's very important. This will prevent people from buying false stuff

Well let me start by saying I NEVER has any bad experiences with Regimentals. My post was not a commentary of the dealer.

As for the cap I have looked at this one before. I am 90% sure. The maker mark and sweatband ring a bell. I can’t remember for certain where but I am pretty sure it was at the SOS in 2007 or 2008. It may have even been on this dealer’s table for all I know. From what I remember if this is indeed the same cap it has issues. If I liked the one I seen I can assure you it would be in my collection now as I have been looking for a real one for years.

Also remember there were only about 100 Chaplain’s in the Heer. That would limit how many even existed yet they pop up for sale all the time. The cap is ultra rare and should be treated just like a color piped. If someone has interest I suggest getting more pics and posing them first.

I do agree it's a very rare bird NZT. I'm not giving any negative remarks on you, it's just the fact that we have to try to protect potential buyers. I've already bought a few items with them and they were all good. My friend had to return one thing (wasn't good) and it was retaken with a smile.
SOS show is possible, I think Regimentals has a stand there.
All the best and thanks for sharing your opinion with us. Always appreciate an honest opinion.

It is interesting NTZ how we keep seeing these caps, even though they are rare. I would like to see more pics of this cap as well, then we would know if it's the real deal. These extra pics would really help sell the cap, just a suggestion if Regementals is listening

                        I am sure they are

These caps are the SS equivalent to the white alg SS. The problem is mainly in the piping. There are a lot of caps with general staff/ vet, smoke and medical piping that show a violet hue to them. One must be real careful that the cap is not one of the preceding with a cross added. Then you have your franky’s to look out for too. In the last 12mo I have seen at least 6 for sale. I would not expect that many survived the war. With only around 100 chaps in the Heer and lets be liberal and say each had 2 caps that is only a couple hundred at best that were even made. Now how many survived?

Bill Shea has this excellent book on German Army Chaplains up for grabs:

                          http://www.therupturedduck.com/WebPages/Books/bk86.htm

With all the faded piping we see, we often forget that the violet colour we are looking for with this branch of service is more dark purple in hue.

The worst one I have seen is a historical web site that for an example uses an infantry white piped cap with a cross added. (The text with the pic said it was lifted from an auction site - enough said there I suppose).

I sold a real cracker earlier this year, the colour purple..... was in no doubt, it was very purple.

Just a little something for you guys. First a pic of the chaps visor. Then a pic that was just posted in the uniform section. It is a smoke troops Waffenrock. See any similarities?
