        Luft Visor

SB looks restitched in the back, will be interested to see what the guys think of this one. If I'm not mistaken isn't this one of those dealer websites where you have to pay $20 just to see what he has for sale for a year? Call me a cheapskate, but I ain't payin no dealer $20 just to look at his stuff. Way too many good guys out there to buy from that don't charge for an online catalog. Alex

Alex, you are correct it's the same dealer (sellers site). I'm not sure about the sweatband, these photos aren't the best. If anyone's serisouly interested I can pass along the sellers e-mail.

One thing I notice is that wreath is not straight, lower on one rib one side than the other.

This celleon insignia is also a minefield as there is so much around from our good friends who manufacture the stuff by the truckload in Pakistan, now that the British do gooders stopped their young stitching footballs.

I might just be choosy, but if I want a general's cap, I would like the celluloid in it, with a makers mark. A real one not a fake one.

I have been fortunate to have had many Luft generals sent to me over the years for inspection. Out of all of them I have found 2 I felt were 100% untouched originals. Some looked real good in pics until I got them in hand. With no recourse I would NEVER take the risk. The odds are the cap is bad. Sorry but that it the reality of Luft Generals. By the way, I am not thrilled with the shape of the peak and general look of this one.

I concur. Nichts gut, I would suspect.

PS-I have only ever owned one real one and handled one other, extremely rare.

Just out of curiosity does anyone have a rough idea of how many Luftwaffe generals there were during the war? I would not suspect too many.

                      Hi,
There were several hundred, believe it or not. Somewhere, I've got the Generals' "Rangliste" and it's a pretty thick book. Many were reserve generals and not on active field duty.
                      Best,
                      Leroy

P.S. The caps (as with everything else) were more plentiful 30 years ago. I've
got 3, Paul Kaps, an Erel and a third which I believe (without looking) is Michovius (sp?) from Cottbus. 2 from George Petersen and the third from a show a long time ago. Luck, not skill, I can assure you.
