    Pretty cool cap badge...Info sought

    Hi all,

Thought This may be the correct forum as this badge would go onto a cloth cap..If incorrect Moderators please feel free to move.

It is a elk with the dates 1943-1944, ?Meer Front.
    Any info on Unit?

Any further info is appreciated, also if anyone might be able to give any advise on preservation as this is the only piece like this I have.

    Thanks in advance,
    Joe

It reads "Eismeer" front which translates to "frozen lakes" (=Ice lakes) front (basically North Norway-Finland).
It sure looks like some kind of cap pin for that campaign.
Units operating their even were allowed a commemorative medal, depicted here:

      Thanks Nick,

That would make a bit of sense, the reverse pins onto a cap. I kinda liked the elfk motif so thought I would ask around...BTW the eagle should land in CA. anytime now.

      Thanks again,
      Joe

Actually I think it is a reindeer which are common up north on the "ice sea"

            Hi Jos,
Sorry for the long delay in response ( missed the thread), The badge is about 1 and 3/8 inches across. It does have prongs on the back, appears they would fold over into the cloth of a cap.

Rear scan, pretty washed out but prongs are there.
