All of these are just stunningly beautiful hats. Thank you all for showing them. I hope to see more hats of this quality.

      Kurt,

Killer hat to a unit with some real combat action to its credit.

I don't know if we have the same guy here, but the Volksbund has an Erwin Guthörl (born 14 Jun 1914) as MIA in the Sudabschnitt on 1 Jun 44.

Beautiful cap in any case. Thanks for posting it

            Hi Lewis,

I have struggled since first seeing your MG hat a while back with that name, but can't get past about the middle of it. It looks like Benkifser or Benkilser? If that's the case I can't find anything on either of those names. Sorry

I'll try again on the Arty hat, but my concern is that with him being in the Arty Lehr prior to the cessation of Waffenrock issue in late '39 that he probably transferred to another unit at some point in the war. This means it would be hard to triangulate a name in the Volksbund (going on last name only) with no known unit and area of operations. Sorry mate, this one may be a bridge too far. My hat's off to anyone who could nail him down. BTW, what's the rank on the W'rock? If he's a senior NCO there's a reasonable chance he was commissioned thus I may be able to trace him at the NARA. Let me know and we'll take it to the next level if possible.

            Best regards!!

            Bob

              Hi Bob,
I've been told the name is F. Benkisser.

The Lehr waffenrock is EM, so probably even harder to trace.

Hope this can help a bit more.

              Thanks for looking Bob
