Police Shako "freebie"

It seems that my mini-streak of good-luck finds, continues.....A neighbor was kind enough to make a gift of this Police Shako to me, because "There was no room for something like this" in his house..... It was brought home by his father, who was stationed in Berlin.

I know very little about these, but this one seems to be in fairly nice condition. The leather liner and drawstring are in fine, supple condition, and there is no moth damage at all.

I'm grateful to him, and I'd be equally as grateful for all of your opinions and comments, especially those that could tell me where I might find the accessories to complete it.....(Chinstrap, cockade...)

Bob, That certainly was a nice gesture......I sure wish I had that kind of luck.....A chinstrap shouldn't be too hard to find on eBay......A cockade might be a little tougher, but I used to see those on eBay as well.....Bodes

nice model 1936 schupo em or NCO shako!!

you could possibly try manions for the chinstrap and cockade...em and NCOs wore the leather chinstrap and aluminum cockade while officer's wore a hand-embroidered cockade and had a chinscale chinstrap

Outstanding pickup !!! That is indeed a very nice Schutzpolizei Tschako. Finding the Chin Strap (Black Leather) and Cockade shouldn't be too hard, they do pop up from time to time on E-Bay.

Hello, all.....
I wanted to update this with a photo of this same Shako with the EM/NCO "plume" added (courtesy of member Tony75).

Now, all I need is the chinstrap!
