    Kriegsmarine landbased visor waffenfarbe ?

I have 2 questions about Kriegsmarine (landbased like "küstenartillerie") field gray schirmmutzen. (officers and/or NCO's)

    (1) waffen farbes: If I understand it correctly the waffenfarbe should be dark blue on a fieldgray visor in most cases and fortification specialists had black waffen farbes.
These are the ONLY 2 possibilities, right?

What about white? Was there a white waffenfarbe piped kriegsmarine visor?
    If so, what's the sub-branch?

    (2) Cap shape: The standard field gray KM land based troops visor shape is the "floppy" pan cake KM look cap, so somewhat oversized in appearance with the cap edges drooping.
BUT occasionally KM schirmmutzen in field gray also come in the Heer pattern saddle shape, correct?

    Nick,
    Let me try to help-

1)standard piping on a fieldgray KM cap is dark green, I have owned on piped in black though.
2)yes, shape could be KM style or Heer style.

    Gerard

PS-Not sure about white piping, possibley an earlier style or not KM

Thanks Gerard. OK so dark green piping for landbased KM, not dark blue!
I remember now. Need to check my books! and black is also a ligit farbe.
White piping is strange... Reichsmarine? Admin officer? I'll post pictures of the cap shortly!

Gerard is right, but some details.

        (1) On early prewar KM feldgrau caps the standard piping is dark feldgrau and on latter caps is dark green. Black was used by the naval engineering corp.

        (2) Usually the shape of the caps are of the KM style and more rarely from of the Heer.

        Regards.

Here's one with green piping. These caps lack piping on the bottom portion of the hat band.

                  Vaughn,

Very, very nice caps...I definitely have a fondness for them even though I don't collect them. I think they are one of the most attractive TR caps. Thanks for sharing.

Interesting that the Pekuro cap in post 6 does not have KM guilded anchor chin strap buttons, instead regular armed forces pebbled buttons... Except for the insignia it could be mistaken for a Heer verwaltungs (Admin) cap, but lacking the bottom piping confirms it has KM! Neat!
