Count me as one who doesn't like handsewn on late caps. The idea was to speed production, not hinder it.

Careful there Johnny, Very Uncommon, but they did exist (however this is likely not one of them).

                  Gents,
Thanks for the replies. My buddy posted the photo for me...before I figured out how to do it myself. Thanks Strangelove. I am certainly not an expert, but are we sure the insignia is hand sewn? Up close it looks machinesewn; though it is sloppy looking. Many thanks for your expertise. It's funny, but I had this cap relegated to the "dustbin" corner of my "War Room" before I came to this forum. Thanks for the great information!
                  Best Regards, Ardire

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

No fan of hand-sewn traps. Count me as doubtful on the cap until I see more photos. Why does the nap appear worn behind the buttons, but there is nap on the outside?

Insignia appears to be machine sewn. I like the looks of it and the lining material but find it odd that there is no RB# (there might be traces above the size stamp)

Just wanted to chime in on this one, I have owned an original M43 with period hand-applied insignia. You know it when you have one. Very distinct and well done.
