    ART VISOR, Erel?

    Hi,
okay today I picked up a Cap at a Coin Shop Antique Store. It is an Artillery NCO Visor. It still has the celluloid diamond, in the light you can make out the words Erel with I think Sonderklasse underneath the Erel. I cant seem to photograph it as it is too faint. The Eagle and cockade is a light gold colour. The material is I think doeskin and the sweatband suede, I had a peek underneath and someone had fashioned a page of period newspaper to act as a filler of some sort. Ive only owned 5 Visors in my life and 1 was a frankenstein piece of crap. I think this is okay let me know what you think, there is no mothing present. Anyhow check it out.
    thanks Robert

Hi Robert, from the pics and your description, it looks like a nice Erel NCO with the "Entry" level unmarked sweatband.

This makes your cap a SINGLE marked Erel, which in my collecting experience, is rarer than the DOUBLE Erel marked padded sweatband type.

Good work in picking this one up

Hi Robert, glad to help. The cap also looks like an EXTRA model from the thickness of the wool.

These Erel's with the entry level sweatband also do not appear with the air vent grommet system, as the air system on an Erel requires the padded DRGM marked sweatband with the dedicated hole front and centre to allow the air through.

We see absolutely loads of double marked Erels, but hardly any of the single liner marked only types.

I will post my officer Sperling distributor marked erel soon. I really think you bought a super cap with this one.

Without me being rude, how much did you scoop it for?

dont know if it was a scoop cost me $650AU which I though fair but not dirt cheap but maybe it was the material is so nice to feel, the Cap exudes quality. Is it an early period Cap?
                          cheers Robert

It probably is an earlier wartime cap, the material quality is high and the insignia is a "quality" matching pair.

NTZ will be able to give a better assesment of the period, Nick lives and breathes these baby's.

In my view, it is a quality lubstein cap that will only gain in value.

$650 Australian dollars equates to £312 at today's XE.com exchange rate, which is an absolute steal.

Stewart at the old brigade has an all whistles and bangs Erel Arty standard for £625.

Robert, you got a great deal

Nice cap. Looks like it has an acceptance stamp, can you see if theres a unit stamp to?
