I agree with Mike , faded medical. The purple for chaplian is normally quite clearly, unquestionable the colour purple.Jacques

Yup it looks faded medical to me too. 99.999999999% are always faded medical

Looks more purple to me on my calibrated monitor.
What concernes me though is that the piping to the bottom of the cap band appears even more faded than the top....

To my mind Waffenfarbe for clergy is a quite different shade, not blue-ish.

Sometimes digital photography can make the violet look purple. I had experience with that with one visor in a dark cabinet.

That said however, the color Mike posted is the right shade. Remeber, chaplain piping is VIOLET not purple. There needs to be more red in the color than there is blue for it to be chaplains. Look at my small avatar photo--even with it being so small--the red makes the violet stand out

Chaplain piping is closer to Bordeax-red of smoke than it is blue-purple of medical visors.

Mike, great hat! May I ask where you got it? I have only seen one cross like that before which came off of an overseas cap that the vet threw away. It's a beauty
