Hi Alex
I agree with Mike, this caps sweatband does resemble an original tropical version somewhat, they really tried anyway...but this Maker did not make the M40 cap... so this Maker is really a not a very good choice to fake an M40.
Your cap you posted is nice late model M40 with the correct three part sweatband.
Timo, most of us have made a mistake or two before, This was mine... Another tropical Pz cap, to good to be true ? Also has three part sweatband like yours

For those interested, this is from the site;
""Over 20 years ago a huge quantity of Afrika Korps long trousers, breeches, webbing belts without buckles and bundles of Afrika Korps overseas caps were found on the Bavarian/Austrian border area. Many of the side caps were made by the Company Hans Brandl of Magdeburg and were stamped with their name and address, plus the numbers '842' which so far to date have not been identified. Recently a small quantity of possibly 15 of the 2nd model peaked field cap have been discovered in the same area, also produced by Hans Brandl with the '842' number affixed. Amongst the 15 at least 12 were of the same material, three were of a slightly lighter weight ribbed material. We have three in our possession, all are in the heavier weight ribbed material, they are with their complete and original Bevo woven Afrika Korps eagle and cockade. The interior sweat band can be seen in our web site images. The 2nd Model field caps were never fitted with the waffenfarbe""
An interesting "story". sounds like the faker has been reading J.F's. work.
Its Hans Brandt for one thing, not Brandl, And eagle application is wrong for this maker too, but theres more...

I'm guessing that they just made a mistake when making their own interiors.

That's why I asked if the last digit in the address was '13' or '15'. It looks like a 13 to me - which is incorrect. The 'Brandl' could be a poor strike for the 't' in the stamp, but not the wrong address.
This was the first I had seen - I usually do not even look at the Regimentals site.

The stamp looks correct to me...the t is miss-stamped in Brandt to look like Brandl, and the 12-15 looks good. I was refering to the "story" and the misspelling of "Brandl". And that the # 842 is unknown, which is not correct, It is the date stamp Aug '42.
Along with Robert's correct comment about the soutache appearing on known good models with the sweatband, contradicting the seller again....
And what about Freds point that it may be a KM roundel ? Eagle looks good to me too. Could this be a good M40 from Brandt ? Just trying to learn...
