I'm with John on this one I'm sorry to say, Timo.
I don't like the grommets, (where is the baked on brown finish on this mint example), I don't like the base material, and as far as I know (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) Brandt did not make m40's. Also their eagle application was different from this example.
By the way - on the stamping does that read 'Ritterstr. 12-13' or '12-15'?
I've a feeling this liner has been stripped from an overseas cap.
If you can get your money back, I'd advise you to do so.
Regards,
Mark.

It does look as though we've come across a new way of faking these caps, stripping sidecaps of their liners. The faker couldn't even manage to line up the front of the cap.
MarkGod please take justin bieber and gave us dio back

Thanks for the added photos, Timo.
Your cap is definately a fake with an original Brandt liner. On PVL's site you'll notice the eagle application is also quite different from yours - almost a trade mark of this maker.
I only asked about the 13 or 15 to see if the stamping was also a fake (it isn't).
DO NOT WAIT! Get a refund as soon as you can.
Mark.

Timo
This is interesting attempt at M40: Have seen tropical sidecaps with added (postwar) visor before but not this variation with interior of a possible good WWII OS cap attached to a modern exterior and then a recent fake sweatband added too.
Brandt did not make Herr M40's only OS caps. But the abundance of these mint tropical OS caps makes this type of profiteering worthwhile $$$ wise. While the date chosen to fake is ideal, as sweatbands were showing up around this period and the no soutache order had just been given, still that doesn't matter with this paticular cap.
Looks like the outer grommets have been replaced from photo ? Maybe not...
Really sad to see a yet another attempt at the fabled M40

Hi Mike,
maybe the cap is really fake but i think that the sweatband are not so bad like you told. The matherials who own it, looks good and it's the first time i watch these kind of matherials on a tropical billed cap. They are very near to those ones present in my tropical cap as will go to show you. The following pics are related to the broken seams who joining the sweatband (flipped out) on the back of the cap. My cap is not brand new like those posted above but very used so i'm not very sure that that one in question is a fake!
