Restitched sweatband???

Ahhh, better. Yes, the treads appear newish and the obvious other holes are present.

Peter, I had a look with my loop and there are definitely no extra holes. The threads is very tight that gives it a shiney appearance, but where it is broken,with less tension it looks like period thread. It is either a totally new replacement sweatband applied only once to the cap or it is the original one.

Hello Jacques,
I was under the impression that you really doubted the the sweat band for some reason. I have attached a picture showing you where I thought the extra were. Can you explain these marks? The pictures are a little fuzzy, sorry. My general impression was that the SB was original to the hat. If those are not holes, then I am sure the SB is fine. I assume, like you said, you gave it a good look. Are you going to keep the hat afterall?

Peter, good eye. These few marks/ holes are the only ones on the sweatband, it look like the sewing started offline and was then re aligned to sew the whole sweatband. The thread has also came loose in this area. I am planning to sell the cap, but I want to 100% sure about it. A remark was made regarding the sweatband by Peter v Luckacz in the dispute regarding his crusher and I wanted to clarify it. I haved decided against returning it to the dealer because of the ethics involved.. I started a thread regarding it in the collectors forum.I appretiate your comments. Jacques

I was not talking about the sweatband, rather the black cap band on the outside of the cap. It may very well be just fine, it was just a discussion in another matter really.

I know one thing and that is that the cap band has not been tampered with. It sits 100% tight to the pasteboard. Jacques
