    Helmut Weitze KM Tropical Visor

I gotta tell you, I'm on the fence with this one. Lets face it, he has some of the worst WW2 headgear out there, but every now and then he pulls out a good one. Nothing like I've ever see,n but I know I haven't seen everything either. I dare say this might be the real thing but would like other opinions

Isn't the Regent logo a fantasy logo??

The sweatband and attachment technique with heavy thread and thick sweatband material looks too much like Janke for me to be interested in this piece.

This one just doesn't feel right to me; though I won't claim to have ever seen a tropical cover in person. Has anyone ever seen such blue edging along the top of the uncovered portion of the cap? On any KM cap?

I haven't also a good feeling with this one, a very rare lining and top cover for a tropical cap, first time I have seen this one, although as you I haven't seen everything either.

I'm happy this visor was posted on the WAF for opinions! Thus far it appears that the consensus is this KM tropical visor is suspicious at the very least and likely post-war, right? Any other opinions?

I do not focus on collecting KM visors but am very interested in as many opinions as possible since I do collect tropical militaria and this tropical visor is particularly rare if original.

Pardon my ignorance but why are such a huge variety of supposed reproduction visors (with an almost infinite number of maker names & stamps) associated with Janke? Has it been confirmed that Janke created the ficticious maker name "REGENT" as specified in two other WAF postings?

I just want to learn more about these extremely rare tropical KM visors and what to look for in best evaluating their authenticity.

            Thanks!

Well, personally I believe it had a lot going 4 itself such as the correct leather visor, the seemingly good mohair band and insignia. What made me very suspicious was the Regent logo and of course the felt liner between the top and interior of the cap when in all actuality it should be of a white cotton gauze material. Actually came within a few hours of owning this and the customs summer visor until I posted them here

True... M Janke, it would appear is blamed for 99.99% of all faked visors. He has never done Erel for instance.
I think we are giving him too much 'credit'.
