Nice and original visor.I have a WH trasmission from the same factory
Yes it could be possible ,all police unit become WSS Division during the war.
I personally know some people in north of Italy ,speaking german, who where in Shupo an than in the WSS Polizei Division.
                  Cheers

Nice, 100% wartime Vogele. It is actually getting rare to find police visors with the chinstrap--most seem to now have chincords!

                      Zeke,

The name tag indicates that Sprotte was in the III Battalion of SS-Polizei Regiment #22. This Battalion was created by grouping together various police companies stationed in Poland in 1942-44. It seems that the regiment was destroyed in Russia in July 1944.

THIS TYPE OF INFORMATION IS WHAT BRINGS COLLECTING OBJECTS
IN TO A SPHERE OF HISTORICAL REALITY. ONE MUST WONDER IF HERR SPROTTE SURVIVED OR PERISHED WITH HIS MATES. IT IS WELL DOCUMENTED THAT THE SOVIET FORCES DID NOT TAKE PRISONERS FROM THE GERMAN FIELD POLICE UNITS.

Greetings Schupo: WOW!!!!! That's incredible information.I was hoping that someone with the resources could put a face on the tag. You must have spent a good deal of time researching this on my behalf and I genuinely thank you for it. Obviously you are a dedicated collector with genuine historical interests. Now as Bob mentioned you have to wonder if Herr Sprotte survived and the story his visor could tell.Much appreciated and many thanks!

                            Hi Zeke,

Stonemint is correct, your visor is unmessed with and looks great. Today the majority of Schupo visors for sale are Officer's grade from an NCO/EM visor. The pratice was quite common during the war. However, I have a feeling as other do, that a lot of these visors were upgraded after the war. One would get the impression that there were more Officer's than em/nco's.

Your visor is very attractive, and a good bit of luck with the name tag. Perhaps this can be a starting point for further research.

                            Good luck!

Greetings SMV.Thank you for the extra information and I'm glad you like it. It would be nice to research it further and perhaps find a sevice photo of him wearing it.That would be an incredible long shot, but wouldn't it be great to complete the circle .
