    black Panzer SS hat/tuxedo buttons?

I have been told this hat is a fake, but thought I'd throw it out there to see what everyone else thinks, just to be sure. A friend of mine gave me this, saying it was something his grandfather, who served in WW2, gave him. I've never seen SS buttons on an M43 before. Any help would be appreciated!

fantasy cap they have been around for awhile and they have been posted here before but not original WWII caps
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

And as I told you on M CF also usually available from Third Reich Despot (as original of course !)

          Cheers, Ian.

P.S. Your friend may not be lying outright, often vets picked stuff up post-war and it got mixed in with their real bring backs until years later they forget what came from where.

Other vets lie, plain and simple, whether for the kudos or for money or just so someone will sit and listen to them.

You are right about it!!! WW2 LTD. sold these some years ago, in fact I have one of their black wool "SS" M-43 that came with a soft white metal army eagle and the same tuxedo buttons, BUT the shape of my cap and color of the thread is a little diferent from your. I paid for mine $12 pluss the "inflation" rate that appear in the begging of their catalog, which came to the amount of $15.89usd.......what a bargain

We couldn't vouch for the provenance for this cap, as I never knew the grandfather and weather or not he was in fact a veteran. But, I'd like to know.... the buttons.....they're original tuxedo buttons sewn to fake hats? Thanks for the info, love your forum!

                  Steve,

They are not the real deal, they are made of a "soft" white metal and the material, finish and details on them are not of the high quality of the originals, you can see original buttons in the SS tuxedos pictured in Mr.Beaver books, Uniforms of the Waffen SS 3 vol. set.....AMAZING pieces of SS clothing.

That's right, fake buttons on a fake hat.
