Altes model visor cap question

I have an Altes model visor cap question:
I found the following image on the web (Italian source). Is this type of cap eagle application acceptable?
Just wondering...
I've of course seen triangular shape (LW)eagle applications on LW tropical "Meyer" caps, but also on ALtes model Heer visors??? (which are early...) ???
The cap is most likely genuine (note damage) but the eagle just looks strange like this...

I'm with you on this one, it does look strange and nothing I've seen before.

Also never seen that aplication but doesnt mean if wasnt wartime replacement of eagle..Billbert

First impressions are good regardless of the strange application of the eagle. A shot of the interior would speak volumes.
