    Kriegsmarine Caps with U-boat emblems.

    Greetings,
Do Kriegsmarine caps with original time applied u-boat emblems ever come around?Weather they are peaked caps or overseas caps, how much do they go for?If any members have any in their collection and would be so kind to share a few pictures I would love to see some. Also I'd be more than willing to purchase either an emblem or the cap and emblem!

    Regards, Peter

    Hi Peter,
It seems that only the Niemanns of this world have these to sell which is understandable being in Germany. Not sure what they go for at the moment, but I reckon that they don't come cheap.
Here is the only one I have which came with some personal items that belonged to a KM lad. The U-969 Comet emblem.
    Cheers Bill.

Km caps with original emblems attached are very scarce. Most of them are post war attached.
I have had 3 in my collection and I only keep the one that I am totally sure that emblem is original to it as the shadow is clearly visible. It is a U20 bordmutze that I will post later.

Its amazing to think of how rare those caps actually are. In very small u-boat crews, probibly not many were wearing the emblem on their caps even to begin with. Then having the sailor survive the war and then some how the cap and emblem survivng 60 years is got to be some kind of miracle. Im surprized that those kind of caps dont get much discussion.

          KM officer cap with emblem.

I think this cap will fit into this threads category. I would appreciate any insight into its history. I took a few quick photos that hopefully will give you folks something to work with.

          Thanks, Lon

There are tons of fake badges out there. Agree with Waffen43. Also agree that shadow lines, discolored background or strong evidence of wear-and-tear around pin holes or stitching are a must.

Convincing yourself is one thing; convincing the next buyer is another.
