    DAK Rosette only hat?

Hi; Got this hat that would appear to be factory and period. Any thoughts?

    Inside

Rosette not sewn through the green lining. Maybe a blue oval stamp inside I can't read. Thanks Doug

Interesting - But comes with a swag of questions. Why no eagle? (Any evidence of one ever being there? But why the rondel in that position if machine sewn?) Is it in fact a POW item?( If so it won't have a manufacturers stamp) Awfully well made if so...

I agree, interesting. Has some characteristics becoming to a kriegsmariner but, can't explain the m43 styling or the placement of the cockade. Never seen one like it.

          rondel hat

Hi; We were kicking it around here and thinking out loud Period German Contractor (German rosette), POW (but they only removed eagle and swaz after the end of the war and so why would they make a German military hat post war?), Post War DAK Veteran (that's the one I like best to cover M43 styling, wartime rosette, Factory, ect.) or just no reason for sale military style hat. Shows no evidence of ever having a German Navy stickpin eagle on it. Maybe I'm imagining the stamp on the inside. Maybe it is more of a stain. Who knows? Doug

Would a metal police eagle fit reasonably underneath??Had to tell for sure from photo..If the eagle fits without getting past the first outer rossette MIGHT be a possibility..JMHO Billbert also would go with the one button theme...

              Yeahbut

Doesn't look like anything else was sewn or pronged on. Police cap eagle would fit but only under the button flap. I just UV tested it and it doesn't reflect. Now I'm really wondering. Doug
