Very cool M-43, nice change from the usual stuff. Find some photos of the same type and then start your button search. It may take a long time so you might want to use a standard German set or the closest you can find until a proper set is found. I love the oddball Italian made insignia...well done.

Finding the correct green wooden buttons may prove to be a difficult task...

i would agree with others italian , (what i ment was its not the usual tr made type)and i checked out the one on relic hunters site ,it would not still be there if it were not for the hand sewn insignia imo although i have never owned one of this type i really like the looks of this one with the machine sewn insignia ,i hope some day you will find the correct buttons, but as another sugested i think it would look killer with some painted pebbled buttons good luck with the restoration

I guess some pebbled buttons would do until I found the correct wooden ones. I wonder if any of the wood Italian hat buttons or uniform sleeve buttons would be correct?

Great cap I really like it. I would love to own one like that one! I like the obscure variations. sell it to me!

I believe the wood buttons may also be found on some other late TR M-43's as I had a set of olive green stained wood buttons on a nice SS M-43. They appeared smooth from the front and had a post that was drilled on the back and sewn through. They appeared metallic at a glance and only closer inspection revealed they were turned on a lathe and wooden.
