Thank you all, actually the cap looked much worst before but I put a piece of foam in the before photos to give it some shape.

      Congratulations Karl,

a beautiful cap and a very nice "finishing" job!

Here´s for comparison an inside pic of another late war Erel with a similar sweatband configuration - but without the EREL Text on the sweatband - probably not a "Privat" (can´t read the text underneath the diamond).

Looks like a very nice latewar Erel!

Would like to hear NTZ´s opinion on this one?

I wish I could luck onto acquisitions like that. Sweet! Interesting variation of visor w/o the reinforced edge too.

Looks to be as you said, late war. Very late. Any more pics? Any date under the SB?

But Lasse this does bring up a question. This cap was obviously parted together with two pieces of sweatband and done pretty haphazard. What one would expect in 1945. Even so it still has a Stirnschutz sweatband. Now ask why do all those particular Heer Erel’s I don’t like not use the Stirnschutz?

That is just one of the reasons that makes me skeptical of them.

Thanks again everyone, I didn't get a lot of good before photos as I should have. The rear piping reed was broke through and poking through the crown piping. Here's a photo of the repair.
