Show Your Favourite Cloth Headgear !

    -
This lovely one came out of an estate for over 15 Years, nearly all military Items of a man were stored about 40 years in some wooden boxes, till i found them and took them to me!
So, this cap is one of my favourites, and you can see the change from 1936 to 1945. Bought as a " Walkout " cap, this cap became the favourite of this Man, he replaced the metallwreath and removed the wire hoop and the cord, so he made a " Crusher " out of it. As you can see on the bend on the top ,over the Eagle, it is the same Cap as on the Picture !
Enjoy this piece of History !

    In 1938:

    ... and then in 1944/45...

    and in 2007 ! Still a Pretty !!!

Just phenomenal, zeug! It is very rare to see a hat posted with a wartime pic of it in wear--that one oozes character--hope you reunite it with that wrapper!

This one may not be the most valuable hat out there, but I will never sell it. It belonged to my wife's grandfather, Hans Hoose. I got to know him pretty well before he passed away in 1999. As I was veteran of the US Army, and he of the Luftwaffe, we would sit and smoke and tell war stories (Op Desert Storm for me, Russian front for him!). He was an aircraft radio repairman in southern Russia, around Kharkov, in August 1943 when he was wounded while running across the airfield by a Russian bomb. I think his unit was II Gruppe, KG 55. He was evacuated to the rear on the deck of a damaged tank, and sent to a hospital in Poland where he met his future wife (she recently turned 80). He was reassigned to a HQ in Holland for the duration, When the war ended, he walked back to his hometown in Germany. I have reconstructed a repro uniform to go with the sidecap. I think one of the uncles has his original medals, but I got his cap in recognition of the time we spent BSing in his smoking room. I miss talking to him and hearing his broken english and thick accent.

Early photo, probably 1941. I don't think this is the same cap.

Opa (grandpa) in uniform, April 16, 1944, in Holland. Sorry for the quality, it's a picture of a picture. You can just see his wound badge on his blouse.
