Don't know much about SS insignia, I'll leave that up to the pro's.

A-SS
Bad "RZM SS" stamp on the visor.
Shield looks plastic
RZM tag looks wrong
Would like to see that pasteboard, but it's covered by this excessively long side liner.
That black liner doesn't do it for me.
Not liking the shape of this cap either.

W-SS
Bad liner, looks like thick cotton cloth.
Looks like artificial wear to the SB
Missing SS, why, plastic, maybe
"rope" Piping doesn't do it for me

Don't know much, but do know the TK on the blackie looks like it's from the set of "Pirates of the Carribean"

IMHO the insignia is crap on the black cap, the skull on the grey is also a fake, however the eagle might have a chance (looks like an Assmann to me). Better pic needed to say for sure in my opinion.

Stonemint - would you spell out the Hersteller # and serial # on the black visor for us, please.

I like nothing on the W-SS. I don't like the lining material and sweatband at all. The sweatband looks forced aged. I take that back. I do like the twisted cord piping. IMH little opinion the RZM tag is bad in the A-SS. That is enough for me to doubt the rest.

Stonemint - give us the details on the A-SS tag, please.

'frog--the A-SS visor is the better of the two by far. Here is what I don't like about it just from the limited pix: (this applies to the A-SS only):

1. The skull is a 380/40, a fake (but rarely seen).
2. The eagle is an M1/17, which is a real #, but has been faked.
3. The ink stamping on the visor looks real good, but imho, it is very-well hand-done.
4. The RZM tag--for this era (with the runic "SS"), I want to see a white backgroung to the RZM monogram, with another (black) ring around it.
5. Chincord appears to be a silverish celleon--I am thinking its postwar dederon.

I would love to look at the pasteboard--I am of the opinion that this is a ground-up repro, and one of the better ones at that.

Stonemint - agree on the tag; just fishing. Not a bad-looking item (the A-SS) otherwise. Badges not my strength for sure. Apologies - thought you had these in hand.
