HJ Caps--a Primer

Far too many postwar civilian youth caps are being re-badged and sold as real HJ ski-caps. While there were a lot of civilian ski-caps that were used wartime by the HJ, these rubber-trimmed (on the visor) are postwar creations:

Here is what you want to be 100% sure yours is wartime--an RZM tag (and you will note that 90% for sale lack one):

You also want an RZM-marked buckle:

Find these two things on a hat, and your 95% there (although I have yet to see a fake with a real buckle and an RZM tag).

Personnaly I prefer this one with "Alkor" ersatz sweatband...

BTW, Shea has a textbook HJ Ski-cap on his site in mint condition, made even rarer by the fact that it is from an AHS (Adolf Hitler Schule):

Kurt posted this HJ lad wearing a ski cap with the trim. However, I believe this would be a non-RZM civil hat with HJ insignia added.
