      IF this was an SS eagle the copper verdigris would be a major no-no, it should oxidize white, the only plated copper wire insignia I know of are fakes from the late 60's

        If the swastika was cut of shortly after it was made (say 1945 ) then there wouldnt be any fading ,and if the cap was then worn in an Americam POW camp the outside wouldnt be affected that much ,just some thoughts .Rob

          Although i know absolutely zilch about these caps, i don't like it.
          It has a 60's look about it and the tarnished insignia could have been added anytime. The inside shows heavy use while the outside is very good, too good. I would expect to see some wear around the edges of the peak at least. Stitching in shots 1/2/3/&9 looks to be all over the place.

            its hard to say when the insignia was put on i will take some pictures of the stitching very unusual to say the least i am not going to write this one off as BAD just yet ,and i will be bringing this cap with me to the SOS if anyone would care to give an in hands look stay tooned,as usuall all opinions are apreciated weather positive or negative thanks guys.

              I would like to know more about the piping. Is it silver colored or white. Is it like celleon? Is there more soiling/wear to the outside of the cap than shows in the photos? Thanks,

                richard the piping is white in color im not sure what its made of i managed to pluck a small fiber from the piping and it did not melt/or glow to uv light . And to answer your question about the wear to the outside yes it is quite dirty and has some wear the flash from the camera washed a lot of that detail out,if the sun comes out today i will try to take a few pics outside in natural light.

                  stitched through the liner! this cap came from a vet friend of mine who passed away a few years ago at first clance i thought it was no good until i got it and looked at it little closer i like it unfortunatally i dont know much about the cap and where he picked it up at ,all i know is he served in north africa,normandy etc, and he brought back a ton of original stuff i hope to have a few of you guys take a look at it in february at the SOS show.
