Anyway, I picked up this nice cap over the Thanksgiving holiday. No rest for the weary. I just couldn't resist.

I am surprised it is still a Bahnschutz. With the way that wreath is stitched, the color of wool and only two holes for a cockade you would think a premotion to SS Generals would have been in order.

Thanks for the comments guys. It is a real shame that people convert these rare caps into wss general fakes. They are real beauties in their own right.
I went to visit an old collecting friend of my father's when I was home over Thanksgiving. He has an impressive headgear collection, including some rare examples... like a general rank HJ high leader cap, postal protection, NSKK visor cap, etc.
I remember seeing his collection for the first time when I was about 12 years old. At that time, he had every waffenfarbe of army visor cap. Many of which he has since sold over the years.
Anyway, I noticed that he had two bahnschutz caps. The other was a pekuro with the metal wreath. Obviously, two is one too many! So, I twisted his arm until he sold me the one I wanted.
Actually, we had a nice time and he showed me a lot of great stuff. I can only hope that when he's ready to let another one go.... he'll give me a shot!

Simply stunning, phenomenal, wunderbar, etc--I have been looking long and hard for a nice Bahnschutz Officers over the past 10 years, and none have met my standards. Most are made by CW--it seems they got the major contract on these--I think this is only the second Erel I can recall seeing--

PS--glad to know Peter Larson and I aren't the only civil visor fanatics...it does get lonely at times....
