This one is from that new French headgear book that came out this year.
This is for an Oberbannfuhrer who does not hold a staff position on either the RJF or an Obergebiete. The yellow would match the color of the shoulder straps. This one is also an anomaly, as to comply with the September 8, 1933 regulations, it should have a black fiber visor too. These uniforms were implemented just before the famed 1933 Nuremburg rally that was the subject of "Triumph of the Will". As the RZM was not up and running, this would help explain these anomalies.

It's tough to even find pix of these in wear--here is one showing the Hochrot band with gold piping, for an Obergbietsfuhrer on the RJF-stab. This is identified as Dr. Usadel, leader of the Reichsfuhrer School.

Lastly, what appears to be an older chart in english, which seems to have some inaccurate descriptions, but it gives you an idea of these.

If anyone else has pix of these early leader's hats in wear, please post them!

          Gobble! Gobble!

          Congrats on the new visor
Very nice looking cap and a great find!
I think it keeps the other HJ visor cap from being lonely

          Cheers!

This is why I love these forums--after searching high and low for period literature regarding these Staff ranks, member Schmusi found the documentation for this series of hats--this is from a period HJ uniform book, and references these Staff hats with the Hochrot bands--mine would be the one described as "Bannfuhrer im Stabe."

Now just to get the other 5 and my collection will be complete....

Believe it or not I do make visits to your side of town.
Usually in stealth mode, when nobody's looking!
I do have a soft spot for headgear, always have.
                Right on, the Southwest boys

In case anyone else is interested, Schmusi posted these for me--these are the officer/general officer ranks per the 9-8-'33 regs: (note the distinctions between Karmesin, hellrot, and dunkelrot:

                              Pascal--
It would be for an Obergebietsfuhrer. It probably had a leather chinstrap at one time, and it may have been period replaced.

The gold piping seems to be unusually untarnished, rare for this era of cap.

In any event, based on these pics, I like what I see.

Why do some have a strip of brown around the base, while on others the band wraps around the bottom with no base?
