    Opinions on that Erel

    Hi!
    Opinions are welcome!
    Regards Sven

HI Sven, I would personally pass on this one. I'm just making my opinions based on the limited/quality pics provided.

Some things that I don't like are:
    1. Crooked liner/offcenter sweatshield, huge red flag!!!
    2. The sweatband
    3. Visor
What I wouldn't give to see some under the hood shots on this one.

It is an oddball material and color wise but so far she looks good.

That is a late war lining and peak stiffener. The stitching at the bottom is odd but still nothing to tell me it is bad. My guess is it was made in late 44, early 45. I see some extra holes so the vented cockade and wreath were probably added post war. Nice find

                It is unbelievable...
She looks as if she is just comming from Lubstein's manufaction...
                Orignial paper inside...
Direct from the son of the owner...

There is just something with the cap that does not sit right with me. I just cannot put my finger on it. Jacques

You know why Jacques? Because this is what I consider a ‘true” late war Erel. We don't see all that many. My guess is it was a custom made visor. I like it even with all the oddities.

Yes a little bit odd ,but no red flags,IMO
All is regular the stitchin and materials ,but not matching in color.
Maybe Nick is wright ,early 45 they built the hat with what they have, for shortage.

Nick, how would you describe the fabric? Is it what some describe as Italian cloth? I have a SS visor made from similar cloth, the only difference is that it has a more brownish tone. Jacques

I never seen it on an army visor before. That is why I thought custom.

                            Unusually, but original...!?!
                            Late 44, early 45.

Jacques ,to wich fafric you refer?
If you are speaking on wool is not italian fabric .The italian is more hairy and rough.
This is italian fabric on an M43 tunic.
The hat has a fabric similar to tricot, that is not comon on Erel but exist,I have a cavalry in tricot.
                              Cheers
