    LW Einheitsfeldmütze '43

    Hi Gents,
what i present you is my M43 Luftwaffe billed cap bought some days ago from an american dealer. It's in very good condition and has those little and hide features that a 'paranoic' collector like me would like to see in this kind of caps.
My concern is about the lack of the signes that passed time necessarily marks this objects. It's the first time that i own a WW2 object with no stains, no little sign on the cloth, no changing colour of the thread.
I usually see the very same caps (recognizable for the RBnr) present in the web sites of the bigger american dealers. Everyone in brand new conditions but everyone with a different method to sewn the insigna.
Mine one has the insigna hand sewn but some other is equipped with straight or zig zag machine sewn insigna.
About the insigna i noticed the strange hooked bill of the eagle and the constant presence of a brown stain on the upper corner of the eagle left wing. These features are present in every about ten caps i've seen on the web.
Is there someone who can enlighten me?
    Alex

I would not be alarmed at the "like new" condition of the cap. Evidently a large group of them were taken as souvinirs before they were ever issued or perhaps a cache was found undisturbed post-war. Interesting observation about the "stain" on the eagle wing and the different methods of application of the insignia.

            Hi John,
maybe all of them were part of a great lot found nowadays from Heaven knows where!
However i found a Luft side cap with the same RBnr but stamped with a different shape and all these casualities are beginning to puzzle me.

I invite every owners with a '43 cap with this RBnr (0/0501/0015) to show here its mütze. I'd like to solve this puzzle.
              Regards,
              Alex
PS: i've seen the same cap equipped with the trap insigna too.
