My humble comments (if I were to state why) just might help the scumbag fakers improve their wares, something that I am not willing to do.

                re,

                for David,

                as you certainly know,
1940 dated black sidecaps are rare birds.

and willy's stamps have been discussed before on this forum,
pointing the fact that lot's of fakes exist with this maker stamp.

                so i'm asking opinions,
if possible on this particular point,
                to compare them to mine,
as i don't pretend to be an expert on this logo.

i would appreciate comments about cockade and soutache too.

a wise way to do before to think to buy, don't you think so ?

                regards
                derka

Is page 124 of the book Collectors Guide to the Third Reich by Gary Wilkins and Bill Shea also showing a clever reproduction .

                  other than colour. ?

I do not have the same maker, so I do not know if this adds anything. the arrached cap had the soutache removed and it is still under the flaps. The grommets are zinc which have oxidized. The insignia is hand sewn. It is dated 1941. Sorry if I am adding to the confusion. I am trying to learn something.
