    Looks like it never had an eagle on the front ,since there are no stitch marks inside or outside .

      Inside is dark green . Cap has 2 gromets to each side .

        ...and inside is black ink marked with 57 for size and a circle with " H P C " inside . Any idea what this stands for , what manufacturer ??? I sure would like to know .

                      Thans for yor kind comments and the promt ID by 'enorepap '. As I recall , I got this mint condition cap about 10 years ago at a gun show for $ 150 . Thanks , Bernd .

                        Just in case there is any confusion, my Dad (Bernd) also posts under my ID here on WAF on occassion. He is one of those lucky guys whose collection was built when prices in this hobby were still `reasonable`.

                            Dave ; Thanks for your kind words . When Doug was a 8 year old "Youngster" , I would take him with me to all the local Militaria / Gun Shows here in the Midwest , like Tulsa , Springfield and the 2 MAX-Shows in St. Louis ,MO . Those were the "good old days " of collecting ! Anyhow , Doug started out with some small and inexpensive items , like Tinnies , some badges and US Pilot wings ; --and sometimes guys would just give him an item here and there . ! We stay in contact all the time --and the fun of collecting remains !! Regards , Bernd
