    Luft. Cap

    Hello,

    A few months ago I bought this Luftwaffe cap. I had a lot of positive reactions from other collectors about it. But when I look at it, I have my doubts about the eagle because I've never seen others like this one before. So now my question is : What dou you think of the originality of the cap and eagle?

      First of all,welcome to this forum !!!

      About your Luft.overseascap...
      There are a couple of things I don't like,first of all:The empty claw of the eagle

      I don't like the angle of the leg of the empty claw of the eagle,look at the pictures and see what I mean...it should be more horizontal...



      Compare the eagle of your cap with these original ones (Pics.came from this forum,Jos and John H.)






      And then the seam at the right side of the cap,never seen this before,they are always at the front and at the back of the cap...



      And the stiching of the national cockade,it looks a little bit strange,stiched thru the blue part of the cockade...



      This is just my opinion,let's hear what the other guys think about it.

        About the seam at the right side of the cap: The person I bought the cap from said it might be a field repair because it isn't really a seam I believe ,because there is already one at the back of the cap.

        And about the cockade: I know the stiching of the cockade looks weird so personally I believe it is replaced?

        I'm looking forward for more opinion's

            Cap looks restored, hard to say when it was done..

            Although the pic isn't sharp the eagle looks like one of those kinda funny looking padded ones to me, meaning the breast looks like it's covered with small cushions.., if so, I think it's a good one, just a different type and different from the common 2nd type..., hence the strange claw.

              Is it possible to take a more detailed picture of the eagle ?
              If you have a super macro option on your dig.camera,you can take a nice close up shot.

              Would like to see some details of this bird.

                Hello, welcome. My advise would be to leave this cap alone. Although the cap itself looks ok, the insignia doesn't and right now, Luft sidecaps are still easy to find and cheap, plenty more fish in the sea to choose from, throw this one back!

                    I tried to make better picture's of the eagle but it didn't really worked, I can't get clear picture's with the camera I have and I'm not so good at taking picture's

                    Hmmz now I still don't know or the eagle is original or not but anyway I want to thank everybody for his help and I think I'm going to sell this one and buy something else.
