Well, being the dumb Irish lad from the woods of New Hampshire, I dampened an old toothbrush with water & brushed it away. I'm sure there was a more professional way but we're dealing with bear skins & stone knives here in the hinterlands...

I agree--great job! The front seam has to be able to be made straight again--can you tell if the front stiffener is bent or has come loose from the inner front of the cap top?

I NEVER reccommend this for lightly-mothed caps, but you can try the old scrape & fill method for the moth-holes--ie, razor off some of the fabric, and lightly glue it in the holes. The only problem is this is Trikot, and that method obviously works best on doeskin.

Thanks for all the positive comments guys. Being a cheap SOB, no matter how banged up it was I couldn't see kicking it out of the house (especially since the only Luft officers I have are celleon & bullion versions - no standard officer cap example in the collection) when a couple of hundred in insignia could bring it back.

Since it is an odd cap to begin with (materials used) could someone comment on the visor (pressed paper) and the lack of sweat diamond. Would love to learn more about those aspects if someone can share anything.
