Well congrats to Guy Manion for removing the HATRIKA. I emailed him explaining it was a pure fantasy logo and an obvious Janke and in less than 24hrs it was removed.

Just a comment for the postee's on this thread.... I never saw this posted on Manion's as an original or a fake.... missed it....

Anyway - if you know the new owner of Manion's, Jody Tucker, then you know that he is a good businessman, and an honest one....

If you know John Conway from Manion's, then you also have met one of most knowledgeable guys I know in "Overall" militaria; but he is no expert in all fields... who of us is ? That's why we depend on each other.... I might suggest that before you blast away at anyone in this forum or Manion's; give them a call first... I can GUARANTEE that they would appreciate that.... I have. Just a thought and comment folks.

Kevin A. Sanders....Oh - and I have friends here in the WCA that I have the greatest respect for... I also know Jody; and I will admit that John Conway is one of my very best and oldest friends... regardless, I have called and returned a single item in the last 10 years or so.... lucky, maybe; using my resources and friends on the best forum for Wehrmacht militaria... you bet.

      Enjoying our hobby-

IMHO it should not be people like me calling or emailing to keep things clean. As a business it should run like one and they should be screening internally. If they don’t have the “experts” to screen the inventory they should find some that can. The item I got pulled was only one. Bidding was at $2,000 for an obvious fake, and I mean obvious. If I didn’t step up someone would have got screwed. Maybe if Jody is serious on running a business he should look through this site and find “experts” that might be willing to help him. All it will take is a few photos emailed to the right people and he can clean up rather well. Maybe he can even offer to pay for advice. Paying someone outside the company $20 an item or something like that could result in a ton more business and revenue for him if people feel safer with the items listed. JM2C.

i would agree there is just so much crap on that site and its all listed as original it would seem NOBODY is screening the stuff i picked up a few nice helmets back in the day i wouldnt have a piece in my collection now from manios if it were given to me for free!just my 2 cents, and there discriptions and photos are very poor what a shame
Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

This statement has pretty much hit the nail on the head. I was looking through their inventory last week and could not believe how many fakes were listed.

That's one of the many things so great about this forum: 1) You can speak your honest opinion from any point of view as long as it doesn't surpass Seba's ground-rules for basic conduct. 2) WE have some of the best "experts" in specific areas right here; most of whom are more than willing to share their knowledge to those who want to grow and learn in unfamiliar territories of collecting. No-one is perfect; most of us have scratched our head a few times or so wondering...live or memorex? Manion's is not perfect; never has been; who has ? It really is the buyers responsibility to know what he is getting; you can only count on "anyone's reputation" just so far... NOT to say that sellers shouldn't research their items also; it's a 2 way street; and each direction has a "right of way". Personally, I collect a little of everything; lots of tinnies though; but to reiterate, I have gleaned more valuable knowledge on this forum from some really great people and collectors...people here have helped me make some great buys and also kept me from falling flat on a piece of well-made, but flawed fake. Last thought: If one of us disagrees with another on this site, we say so; the same should go out to dealers / auction houses like Manion's...by working together, we expose and reduce the fakes and the openly dis-honest sellers out there.....

Soap Box Sanders ;}} Enjoy collecting....

True, but if all the fakes get weeded out the Manions site would be pretty much empty then. Where else can one go to see all the latest fakes out there
