    Allg. SS Officers Visor

Need some second opinions on this one guys if you'd be so kind. The insignia is crap I know so it's just the cap I'm interested in. I think the peak has been replaced judging by the empty holes in the s/band.

Two things that jump out at me- the line of stitching at the top of the velvet band should usually be above, not below, the middle piping. Also, in the second pic, the grain of the velvet looks quite clear, whereas the originals I've had had such smooth fine velvet that no weave could be seen at all...but I'll let you finish posting pics...

Any spanish speakers among us? I found this comment by googling:

"RE: Chilenos en las Guerras Mundiales
                    Gunelfe:
seria muy interesante saber cual fue la participación de Erch Bodenstein en 1939 cuando las SS asolaron Polonia.
En que regimiento participó, bajo la orden de que general."

I´m not a SS expert myself so no comment on the cap, but maybe there was a Dr. Bodenstein in the SS - which of course is no guarantee for an original visor...

Ben it is a tough go with just the pics provided. I do see a few things that would make me question it. The first is the exposed stitching at the top of the cap band we can see in the first pic. Next are the marks in this obviously replaced sweatband. Look, here are your chin cord button marks from the prongs. They are now in the front of the cap. How is the lining sitting in the cap? Are the edges folded over? The fake major tag is another. What kind of peak stiffener is used? Can you get a pic? So far I have the felling the cap was reassembled.

Looks fake to me, especially the trikot material. I just handled what I consider to be the best allg-SS em fake cap I have ever seen. It came from the UK. The interior may have been real, but the outside trikot cloth was fake and had a "rough" hard feel to it, not like the original caps. This material almost looks like polyester to me.

Thanks guys, you've pointed out all the things that worried me too.
I could live with a replaced peak but the rest, no way.

I agree, very American. You would think they would have used an obreviation for Sturmbannfuhrer.

I agree with others on this one. Also the stitching on the SB is not clean and neat at all, it's all over the place, with signs of open holes as well.
