Segelflieger Visor

Gents:

This is a somewhat rare cap, which is for a subsidiary of the DLV (precursor to the LW), the Abteilung Segelflug, or Sailplane Unit. This cap is for a Segelflugunterfuhrer, and has the insignia which is peculiar to only this organisation. You will note that as with most LW visors, the band is black mohair, and the band seam is on the obverse of the hat:

Unlike the LW, there was no colored piping--just simple blue-gray wool for all three rings:

The insignia consists of a large swastika over a silver propeller and wings, with a red-enamel roundel:
