Veterans Visor or something else??

Hello,
I got this cap from another member thinking it as a standard Vet. visor. But there's some unusual things about it. #1 It's black, weren't these dark blue? #2 The mohair cap band was added to the band, and it has seams to the front and back.
I pulled up some stitches and looked at the cap band and it's black felt.
Would it be possible that the cap maker took a SS cap and converted it into a veterans visor? Thanks for any help

I have doubts about the ss idea. I just don't like the looks of this one. The felt behind the ribbed band with what looks like a skull impression. The liner looking very crued and new, etc. I don't know Karl, but I hope I'm wrong.

I know it's a long shot but why would anyone now a days turn a SS cap into a common Vets cap.

I just put it under black light and the piping glowed very well. I'll get in touch with the seller asap.
