Thanks for all of the nice comments guys. I find that original ss enlisted visors are actually harder to find than ss officer visors. David - I would be happy to comply with your request, but many of my caps are in storage right now. So, the group photo will unfortunately have to wait.
As for the stamp on the sweatband, it looks like 'Mutzenmacher Re????' over 'Rhe.... Wiesbaden' and then the date 1939. It is very hard to read, but here is a close-up shot.

I also found this little size stamping in one of the folds of the lining of the cap! You can just see the edge of the '8' in picture #4.

I don't like the insignia. The skull is a known bad one (ss 360 m1/52 rzm marked on back as I recall) I don't care for that visor at all.

          Hi mate

Can you provide a photh for compareison on the scull since you hold us all hanging? I guess most of us really want to learn this hobby.
Can you describe more acurate what you do not like regarding the visor itself?

          Kind regards!

Wrong information, plain and simple. The skull is an original zinc Assmann, most likely marked Ges Gesch on the back and the cap itself is exacty what you would want from a genuine WSS other ranks schirmmutze.

Yep,100% textbook correct, with round copper pins soldered on no-doubt.

                Ian.

Ben,is that a 155/42 Assmann eagle too ? They're not my strong point.

Yes, I think it probably is.
