Some mistake this for TR or West German if they don't know DDR. East German Army 1956. Very uncommon nowadays.

Vaughn--sweet piece! Guys, this is the first style (1956-59) which used the tri-color 3-d cockade, before the use of the standard DDR cockade.
Vaughn's is really rare, as it dates almost from the day the NVA was constituted.

Glad to see I am not the only TR/DDR headgear collector on the forum!
