    Gebirgsjager sidecap

    Hello,
I'm currently offereing a sidecap in the headgear section of estand, and as per request of Mike (Reenactorfest), here is the link for discussion. I'd be a bit surprised if should turn out that it's a repro, but any serious doubt, and it will be retired for sure.

Thanks for giving us a chance to discuss this cap. I am no expert, but I have a lot of M34 caps with soutache and I feel the angle of your soutache is too round at the apex. Mine are all sharp. Also, the soutache itself seems to be of an odd material. Final thought: I have seen several caps on the market that are fake with the "LAGO" manufacture stamp. This just adds to my worry.

It may be a perfectly right cap, but these three things make me question it.

    Grazie!

    Mike

No problems Mike, as told you, although I still have much to learn, I believe that the source and the way I got it from, several years ago, are affordable (even if I understand that these may be good points only for me).
Let's see what others may think of yours and other possible comments.
If I'm right...well... a good advertisement for my sale ( ), if I'm not, it's fair that the item will be withdrawn ( )! That's the purpose of our forum.

Just added a closeup of V shaped soutache, in order to point out color, without flash, and "angle" of stitching. Hope this helps.

to me the outside looks questionable, but the lining material and gromett look spot on.

The way the eagle is sewn on is very unusual as well. I am truly stumped by this one.

Well, I wouldn't buy it..Very atypical sewing on the eagle for one as others mentioned.

                        Sidecap

I too am no expert but when I was looking at it on estand I thought the soutache looked too rounded compared to most originals I have seen, the sewing on the bird is certainly different also. Overall, it just doesn't seem to have the "right" look to it although it is obviously very well made.

judging from the very poor picture provided eagle is not professionally stiched to cap. sewing application is to inconsistent thick at times ,then thin then not even touching eagle looks original i cant be 100% as pictures are bad it almost looks like it doesnt match the age of the cap we need better pictures
