I also like the eagle and it's stitching, the fabric, and especially like the silver washed buttons. Have a late war example with direct veteran provenance with the same buttons.

I think the cap is fine, just a late war example.

Could be All wrong about it John, just do not care for the construction/look of the piece.

I wouldn't worry about the lack of a cockade, I have a late war (1944) M43 without one also. I think some makers figured it wouldn't be seen behind the buttons anyway. I think it's a pretty good looking cap!

If you do check it our Harry, please see if that lining matches that of the enlisted ranks M43 you recently picked up.
