Might have a chance..No markings??Billbert if the buttons are bluish grey they were probably replaced..

There are no other marking aside from the "53" size mark that can be seen. The buttons are indeed the luftwaffe blue color, but the stitching looks original to the cap. Martin

No red flags to me

I see no problem with it and I have seen buttons in that color on several early caps. I am almost afraid to say something is good anymore since the quality of the fakes is so good but this one looks to have honest wear and fading.

I think that a detailled shot of the internal rivets could be very helpful.

IMO original M42 Feldmütze with reapplied insignia and late war grey/blue buttons
